p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sunrise from the Washington Monument

This morning I went to the Mall of our nation's capital for a sunrise around Washington Monument.

Beautiful day with perfect temperature, good amount clouds, and not many tourists.

Well, they must be sleeping at that hour.

Sunrise shot from the Monument was taken from Lincoln Memorial.

I could not take any good shots of Lincoln. They are still cleaning the green paint splashed by a lunatic last week.

Afterwards, I wanted to take a look at the 555-foot-tall Monument dressed with scaffolding to make repairs to the damaged stonework following a 2011 earthquake.

Here are a few shots from this morning.

Enjoy.

Kee

All that scaffolding makes it look kind of like the Eiffel Tower. Good shots though.

#1 is powerful, the dark trees rush me toward the tower very nice!

#2 is neat for me, kind of hiding under the scaffolding waiting for a reveal

Hummm... when I saw the scaffolding of the Washington Monument, I felt the same way.. the Eiffel Tower.

Actually with scaffolding and lights.. it looks a lot better.

The construction scaffolding with the lighting has given an unique look.

Thanks Bob. I somehow like that scaffolding for the monument. Looks neat and nice especially when lit.

Great shots. Is the monument falling?

I worked in DC for a lot of my government career. Driving across the 14th street bridge and seeing the monuments lit never failed to move me. Thanks for the memories.

The Washington Monument is the Spirit of USA.
I feel so happy about the monument and the lighting makes it more of it.
Thanks for your comment.
