The post processing looks pretty good to me, but I don't know that it looked like before.

I like the clouds. I like the beach. I am not sure it would look better, but it seems like it would be interesting to see how the image looks with the beach/foreground brighter.

The one question I had regards the "peak" in the center of the photo. Is there sunlight on it? If there is, I would expect it to stand out, but it certainly doesn't make much of an impression now.

Hope that is of some use.

Hmmm.... The processing looks fine, it certainly doesn't feel like an HDR shot. But I have to say the composition isn't doing much for me. You got some nice clouds in this, perhaps adding some more contrast might help to add some drama to the shot, otherwise I have to say it doesn't speak much to me.

On another note, please be aware that this is too large, 850 pix wide is what you should be posting. When you get a chance please read our guidelines in the upper left corner.

Thanks for the comments. I wasn't satisfied with this comp either but not sure how to improve it. The light area on the middle peak is vegetation. Sorry about the size error. I couldn't figure out how to pull it down and replace it.

Not much color or contrast here so B&W might be the better option. I like the footprints leading into the shot but would have moved to the left to separate the rock in the foreground from those in the background.

b&w is much better with the flat light.
I am trying to find something in good focus, it looks a bit soft. The b&w conversion helps this with the increased contrast.

Just click on the "Edit" message button on your original post and then at the bottom select
"Replace 1/5" and then in the file browsing box just click on it and point it to the new smaller photo. That's it.

I agree perhaps the B&W is the way to go with this. Maybe give that a run. The only thing I didn't like in it was that burnt out area in the sky and the higher contrast of the B&W is showing where the HDR left halo's around all the rocks. So you might want to sort through that a bit on your own version, but I think B&W is the way to go.

Ha ha... me too Brian! I have a couple of friends that are talking about shooting there... I was trying to focus on Mt Rainier, but man... this is making it hard!

Were there more blacks in the original? Looks like it was lightened too much. I like it, makes me feel like heading back to the wild coast for some camping. Sometimes there's not really any potential spectacular composition in a scene like that, but the scene is nonetheless inspiring. I like that you resisted the over-contrast over-saturation over-processing trend that seems to garner so much praise everywhere these days.

Thanks all for your input. Didn't notice those pesky halos or even the guy on top of the rock. Will try some shadow/black adjustments.
