I visited the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, New York just before heading west. I found the adult and junior tree swallow alongside one of the paths.

An excellent set, Morris.
#2 really shows how most of the wings are long feathers and not the muscles that move them.
Strong yet flexible enough to permit flight, terrific insulators- IMO bird feathers are the second most impressive example of evolution.
The human brain being #1.
