p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Late Spring Courthouse Falls (+1)

How's it going everyone. Been quite a while since I have posted anything. I was able to shake the dust off the gear a few months back and try my hand at landscape stuff again. This was the first time I put my D800 to the test for a "real" landscape image (I have been doing much more candid/lifestyle shooting the last few months) and I wasn't disappointed. The 24-70mm performed quite well.

I must say I didn't feel as comfortable behind the lens as I have in the past, but I'm sure it will eventually come back if I get out and shoot more landscape stuff. Long story short, here is an image from a late spring visit to Courthouse Falls, just outside of Brevard, NC. The water flow was great, as was the rich, green foliage. This is definitely an ares worth revisiting.

Any and all critique is greatly appreciated. It has been awhile since doing landscape work, so I'm sure I missed something or could have done things differently. All feedback is fair game. If interested, here is a random hodgepodge of my last few months myweh.tumblr.com

Yeah, the more you get out, the more comfortable you will feel. #1 is a nice waterfall shot, though I would like a slightly faster shutter speed for a bit more detail. #2 is the shot that really shines here, I really like the composition, and I don't find it wierd at all. What do you see as wierd about it?

They both look good to my eye. Keep on going with the D800.

I like the clear water in the waterfall -- that really makes the foreground work well in the first. The second has a nice graphical quality and there are no random spots or other defects on the leaves to interrupt the pattern.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Hoping I can get the landscape stuff back into the mix a little more often.

I want to say I was there around 9 AM. It is a western facing fall tucked into some pretty decent foliage and hills, which helped to hold back the sun a little longer. If I had stuck around, the sun would have come into the frame right above the falls (where there is an opening in the trees).

Hope that helps.
