This bit of trail was actually quite a bit more civilized than in might appear. While the exposure seems truly horrifying - and, truth be told, the trail does cut straight across a cliff face, the construction of the trail was quite something - wide, with a railing, and in places covered by a concrete roof to protect from rockfall. And not ten minutes down the trail beyond the two hikers (look closely to see them) one can stop for lunch and bier. ;-)
Near this spot there was a junction with a "real" trail that branched off from this developed trail. That other trail was essentially a ledge carved into rock, rough and not more than perhaps 18" wide, ascending steeply across a cliff face, with only a cable attached to the rock for safety. On this trip, I did not take that trail... ;-)
