Sashi, cool pic but a wide range of light here. Also focus difficulties. The hard part is getting the eye, front leg prongs and the hair just behind the head. Moving to the right, if possible would have helped to get the same plane. Great that you get so close.

Out there and you are photographing little tings rather that the city and harbor. Interesting choice

Nice shot with a lot of detail on the areas in focus.

Nice BG colors and well captured! Dragons are one of my favorite macro subjects. Thanks for sharing!

psharvic, thanks for the tips. I will definitely keep in mind. I am absolutely new to macro photography (started only because I scored a great deal on the lens) and it is just a couple of days since I have got the lens and adapter. I appreciate any tips/pointers that can help improve my absence of macro skills. On the Alternate Gear forum where I posted a few pics, people also told me to invest in a good ring flash/off-camera flash setup. Never realized that DOF is so shallow even at f/11 . I recalled reading an earlier post where the photog said that the dragonflies come back to the same perch after taking off. I focussed on the wooden stick (which was used to steady a tomato plant), and hoped that the DOF was enough to capture the dragonfly. After it landed, I did a very minor adjustment in focus and took the snap.

Birdie, Ron, Sergio- thanks for the comments. I am pretty pumped up with this macro lens and have a whole new "world" of opportunities open up.

Morris, having been to Governor's Island a gazillion times (Ok, about 50 or so times), I have enough photos of the city, Statue of Liberty etc. This weekend, they had many historic carousels installed at Nolan's Park, and this trip was for our 3 yr old to have fun going on the rides.

Thanks, all

Sashi

Since you are new to macro, I suggest you take a look at the "macro" forum. The "Post your gear" topic has a lot of great info, (and photos), about gear ~ Ron
