Hi,

First post here so I apologize if I didn't follow the rules.

This was my first picture to test my brand new 14-24mm (bought the day before) to go wide .

Need to wake up very early for this shoot (around 2h30). Ascend took 1h30 for nearly 600m (very steepy).
Then a little free climbing (a few steps). Get the gear up with a rope, then set up the camera just before the sunrise.

The tripod was not an option in order to "be in the frame". Don't know if you like human in landscape or not, but
I thinks it brings something to the composition.

Regards
Stéphane

Stunning! Well done. And I like the human - adds scale.

Stunningly beautiful! Love the sedimentary layers and the human does give scale to the image.
Thanks for sharing.
What part of France is this?

Yes, I should have mentioned "Another Double Arch" .

To add some details, this one is located in the French Alpes near Grenoble in the
Chartreuse moutain chain.

The Arch was not known to public until 2006 because the place is very steppy
and even from the sky it is totaly hidden by the surrouding cliff.

Nice. Like the scale...would not be the same without the human element.

Question.. was that human "YOU"?
Very nice shot.
I am wondering how the scene would be if taken from where that human is standing.
Yes, with wide angle of your lens, 14-124mm. Congratulations on your new lens.

Yes it's me on the picture.

I used a gitzo basalt tripod as it is light weight for montain : I like this one a lot because I bring it with me
every time without pain.

For taking the picture I used the timer in the D800 to take 1 shoot every minute with bracketing activated
to catch the ligth.

After a few trial, this was done.

Great place indeed because you have really to earn the place.
It was definitly a great journey at the end .

Very cool location and choice of shooting location. And a great idea to set it up so you could be in the picture to provide scale.

Very unique double arch. . . makes you wonder how much longer that thin arch has before it collapses. Love the pic - your composition does a great job of capturing the perspective. IMO it needed you in the pic to give it the wow perspective. Love it!

Excellent shot Stephane, well captured. The human element definitely adds to the scene, there's no way I would have known the scale of the arches otherwise.
