p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · An oyster rock

Just a brief intro, this picture was taken during a geological outing a few months ago in NW Scotland, a beach called Sango Bay. Pristine, blue waters and clear sands make up for a beautiful place where taking a bath might mean hypothermia!

The oyster rock name comes from the first geologists who studied the area in the late 1800's and mislabeled the rock as oyster-baring due to the physical similarity of quartz lenses in the rock to the shells of oysters.. This is a place of profound geological history and I'm just sending this pic off for a geological photo comp (in colour though)...

Hope you enjoy it, any CC is welcomed

EDIT: I get the impression that the pic is soft, if you see it like that at your end please confirm it to me... not sure if it is browser thing or whatnot

Hey Gustavo,

That is an interesting rock, the B&W adds some nice contrast to the scene. It doesn't really seem soft to me, I think if you sharpened it more it would come across as over sharpened.

Good luck on the competition.

Thanks Jim, appreciate your time to comment.

I feel that this is far from competition worth, I didn't have the time to wait for better light, take a tripod, release, etc... but then, the target for this competition is geoscience people just like me, who I presume, don;t also have the time to bring a tripod, etc... so who knows... I for sure don't have any high hopes

Scotland is a beautiful place. I really feel I should take more personal time to go out and photograph it...

Hope all is well, thanks for passing by
