This photo is blended by 2 in photoshop. I took one long exposure foreground while there was still some light.
and took the milky way picture later after fully dark with 25", ISO 5000, and F4.

There is a camp fire behind the trees, and passing cars on the road sometimes light up the left side sky.

Please feel free to give me comment and critique which can help me to improve myself.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Jing,

You should host that shot in a different place, or change the restrictions on it so that it can be posted directly into the thread to be seen. Most people won't click on a link to see the shot externally.

Briefly, I liked the look of the shot all except for where that one point is all lit up. I wouldn't have thought that it was legal for anyone to even have a campfire in that area there. So my only suggestion would have been to shoot it at a time where there was no campfire, the rest you did a good job with.

Jim

Hi Jim,

there is camp ground behind the trees, so the camp fire should be allowed.

Thanks for the comments

It would be a great shot without the campfire light, but I think the campfire adds to it and makes it unique.

I agree on the posting suggestion.

I don't find the fire offensive. I think with the water it adds an eeriness to the image. I bet you did not want the last embers to leave the fire. I have done that. "JR"

I have seen this composition shot before at night on Flickr, and I swear, each and everytime there is a campfire or some sort of light by those very same trees that you captured.

Overall, an outstanding image!

Beautiful image, darkening the campfire and brightening the Waterfall might draw attention to the falls IMO

Nice shot and good color balance. If it were mine id probably kill the light on the two bushes on the bottom as they are pulling my eye out of the center of the frame. Also, try sharpening the sky a bit more to bring some pop out of the stars as they look a bit muddled. Awesome composition though, the entire image flows very well. I was just there a few weeks ago.

Now that I look closer there is some vingetting in the corners too...

I re-edit the picture based on all your suggestion:

removed the light on bottom
darken the camp fire
increase the sharping on Galaxy
light up the water fall

Hope it looks better

Thanks again for your encourages and great comments!

Nice image but it is way too blue in color, a warmer white balance is needed. The Milky Way is brown and tan in color instead of blue as seen in your photo. What white balance did you use? Depending on the places I shoot the Milky Way, I try to get a feel for my surroundings and determine if there is a lot of either mercury vapor or sodium lamp light pollution nearby and set a white balance to counter the colors of the sky glow. It is a nice photo, a great perspective, but for me, it's just too blue overall.

Nice shot, I was there a few weeks ago but didn't stay long enough to get the Milky Way Shot like you did. I also noticed some lights by that campsite but it didn't effect my picture as there was still some light.
