Merced river, last fall/winter in Yosemite National Park. It was raining/snow while I took the photo so some of the details are kind muddied.

This is 3 exposure processed from 1 single raw file in LR. Then layered mask in PS. Canon 24-105 + 5D MK II

Hey Jason,

Very very nice! You got some terrific fall colors here. Yosemite in general has limited fall colors compared to other areas, but it seems like you found a treasure chest full of color! When was this taken?

Jim,

Last year on Nov 10, during that crazy snow storm but all day shooting conditions that everyone raved about :P. Yeah it was pretty hard to find extreme fall colors in Yosemite. You really have to hunt. It's not like colorado or Utah where its everywhere and in bunches.

i'm hoping to sneak out of the house to Yosemite during sept or nov. When are you hitting Yosemite this year?

beautiful shot, if the pull more shadow out at the right side, will be excellent...in my opinion

Nice capture. I disagree with jingjing about the shadows. Your shot looks natural and believeable as it is.

Thanks Jingjing, I'll look into that. Originally I left that alone because I wanted a more natural feel because that side was dark when I shot the photo.

Thanks Helen. I had the same thought as well. I did try opening up the shadows but then it just got distracting.
