A morning or late afternoon visit to Mesquite Dunes always leaves me smiling.
Sometimes my pics work- sometimes not.
But I always enjoy the jaunt.

i dont usually like shooting in that time of day but here it works great with the harsh shadows casted by the dunes. awesome job!

Some shots in the series have been made on the same day, but mostly not,
I've been to these dunes a couple dozen times, and don't have the scans organized by date.
Ah, the old conundrum about photographing in harsh light... or not.
The dunes' greatest appeal to me are texture, shadow and shape- and strong sunlight at a low angles works well for that. And because I only go to Death Valley in winter, it seldom gets too hot, and the sun stays low most of the daylight hours.

Creation of 'modern-art' from an otherwise hateful desert.
The texture and color...

And the brave, fighting survivor, the thorny bush on extreme left adds 'life' to the frame.
