Well I sent my 1DX in for the service advisory on Monday and got it back Friday just before a trip to Iowa. I was hoping they didn’t screw anything up since I didn’t have time to test it before we left. Well I took ~2000 shots and I’d have to say it’s as good or better than it was. I did notice more burst sequences seemed to have every shot in focus. As compared to before where one or two shots were oof before. I always chalked it up to operator error.

I found shooting cormorants fishing a bit like playing whack-a-mole. Once they come up with a fish, they swallow it in seconds. I also couldn’t believe how big a fish they could swallow.

Excellent work George! I thought the cormies were really good and then hit the pelis and you nailed them also! I would agree that its amazing what the cormies can get down but what kills me is that they just go back for more! The last two pelis are wonderful

When the cormies would come up with a fish, the pelicans would defiantly try and steal it. One of the guys I was shooting with got a shot of a pelican just about taking a cormorants head off. I of course missed it.

Well there were no real problems that I knew of Martin. Before the service on a burst of say 15 shots sometimes I’d have a few oof shots in there. When looking at the shots the focus point was tracking where it should be, eyes, head or something. I just thought it was something I was doing wrong. Well after the service I see it less. The ones I do see oof are my fault. I can see the focus point is not where it should be, do to operator error.
