The stream and sky induced me to point northward and shoot wider than I normally do here. This is a single exposure.

Nice take on a great landmark subject Ben!! Very dramatic sky! A composition I don't believe I have ever seen b4! Wonderful encompassing of foreground and background techniques to make a very well composed image! Allot of drama, emotion, expanse portrayed here!
Well done!

Hey Ben,

Very nicely done. The WA view really takes in all of this wonderful beauty. The clouds and lines really balance well. I think it could use just a hair more contrast in the grass, just a touch more. But that might just be me.

Thanks Dan.

Jim, thanks for your comments and feedback. I processed this at least a dozen times. It was very difficult to get a version light enough to print. The raw exposure was left as is for the barn and mountains with one stop darker for the sky and 1/2 stop lighter for the foreground. I agonized over how dark to make the grass. It might be better a bit darker for monitor viewing than for printing.

Hey Ben,

I know that feeling. I have a shot I have been processing all week now... I keep going back and forth with it. One minute it feels too bright so I darken it a bit and add a bit more contrast... then a couple of hours later I look at it again and it looks too dark so I lighten it back up again... I have been seriously doing that for 5 days now... It's funny... some shots when processing just fall right into place, and then others we can go back and forth on it trying to get the right feel for it...

Ben,

this is amazing that it's a single exposure. The range of colors is phenomenal. I like how you use the river to draw the interests. Excellent shot.

Thanks Tim.

Jason.

I had tons of bracket shots and tried blends, but the single shot was the easiest to work with and avoid witness. One nice thing about brackets is that one is likely to be the best single exposure.

Jim suggested more contrast in the grass. I was not sure how to do it without getting too dark.

After printing this and hanging it on the wall I decided it was just too dark. I reworked it by making the foreground a bit darker, then brightening the entire image then running a Topaz pop action which tends to brighten the entire image and giving it more pop.

Let me know if its too much.

Very nice Ben. I think I like the darker version better.
