It's probably because I'm a neophyte, but I hadn't ever seen this lighting effect before at sunset. A cloud was poking up over the horizon and as the sun set, it created a "beam" of blue that shot across the sky. I was curious if anyone had seen this before.

That's an interesting effect, I haven't seen that before!

I wonder if the cloud in front of the sun is casting a shadow on the rest of the sky?

I have seen this a number of times...yours is very obvious example! Its a shadow cast by that low cloud...cool shot!

Definitely seen similar effects, but with the Mountains here. Your capture is particularly interesting.

Have seen it quite often. Just never have stopped to shoot it when it does happen. lol

They're pretty common here in S. Az during the summer stormy season.
