There was a nice thunderstorm rolling through the valley yesterday. A nice respite from the 106 f. temperatures. I tried to catch some lightning with little success, still I managed to have a nice relaxing time waiting and watching the storm from the riverbank, although I was getting soaked. Just me, one beaver, and a big catfish...

Thanks guys!

I waited for four hours in my spot, just waiting for light that never came on the towers. Oh well, that's the life of landscaping... Highly unusual though, usually there will be a break where the sun blasts through, but it was pretty dense cloud cover.

Hey Craig, I like this photo very much. I like the composition and the richness and the colors. I somewhat feel as if I can just walk into the scene. It sucks that the temp was 106º, we are getting close to that here in Texas.... However your efforts have paid off.

As usual, a thoughtful composition and subtle light, but...you didn't say anything about the beaver or the big catfish?

Todd, one reason perhaps is I was out on a little sandbar, so I could get the river level view. I was really focusing on the rocks off to the left, by the bank as they were reflecting nicely. And the red rock cliff was deeply saturated since it was raining while I was shooting, just testing the water resistance of the 70-200mm. Tilted the lens up a bit to capture that cliff also.

Oh, the beaver made an appearance at dusk, directly across the river from me. He was busy as a beaver gnawing on a branch.
