Here you go, these are posted in a couple of other threads as well.
The EOS M is not the optimal manual focus platform, has anyone tried Magic Lantern on it?

Thanks twoeye.
What lens/lenses do you use?
I too would be interested if anyone has put on ML.

The above shots are done with Leica Summarit-M 50mm F/2,5. I have all three EF-M lenses, the 22mm is really good and so is the 11-22mm which is an impressive little lens for a lightweight architecture/ travel/ landscape kit.

My main use of the EOS-M at the moment is with the Summarit 50mm as a small short tele complement to the Sony RX1.

Manual focus can be done accurately with zoomed in view, but it is by no means fast. The focus peaking and magic zoom that Magic Lantern offers looks really good.

I've been using EOS-M + Voigtlander 35/1.4 and Magic Lantern for a while, it works great. The one thing that makes manual focusing really easy is the half-press zoom tweak (it zooms 5x when you half-press the shutter) which means you can control aperture+focus with your left hand on the physical lens, shutter speed+shutter+zoom on/off with your right hand without moving either hand, and it works out really well.

There's also the ML magic zoom feature, but it just blows up the screen pixels to 2x2 superpixels and doesn't actually zoom anything.

I wasn´t aware that the magic zoom function just blows up screen pixels, so that is a bit disappointing. Half pressing the shutter to zoom 5x sounds convenient though. Do you find the focus peaking function useful? And do you run ML with the latest EOS M firmware?

I find the ML focus peaking too inaccurate for extreme conditions like macros, and portraits with f/1.4 - f/2 lenses. It's probably fine for more "normal" uses. I don't know whether ML's focus peaking is also based on screen pixels or not, but if it is, this would explain the inaccuracy.

To their credit the magic zoom is still extremely useful for video since you want to see the whole screen and a zoomed part at the same time which 5x won't do, and the screen pixels are so small (it is a good screen!) that it helps a lot even to have zoomed screen pixels. It can also keep moving the zoom box using face recognition if you're interviewing someone with video. For stills I still prefer 5x half-press.

I am running it on the new 2.0.2 firmware. They figured out how to get it working a few weeks ago on 2.0.2 firmware, though I had to dig through 36 pages of forum discussions and wade through various dead links in order to get the release for 2.0.2. They are volunteers though so I can't complain. And it does work fantastically once you figure out where all the files are. Alternatively you can downgrade your firmware and use their more easily-downloadable release, since the new firmware largely fixed an autofocus issue which you may not care much about.

What doesn't blow me away, is the internal reflections that the 18-55 STM and EOS-M pairing can exhibit.

I don't know if it's the lack of adequate light baffling or the short register distance allowing a gnarly "feedback loop" but it's certainly worse than a DSLR body and lens combination.

I don't grok this.

But the M is still a fantastic little camera. I wish it had full-time manual focussing (electronic, of course) instead of waiting for the AF to do its thing, then being allowed to manually tweak it.

Wow that looks poopy. I have never seen anything that bad. Hope the wide angle zoom for the m isn't that bad. Was planning on getting that one

I'll be honest, I didn't think it produced such good results. I'm guessing that's all you skills.

I suppose I never gave it a fair shot, due to the af. I watched the comparison videos, weird the guys set different modes to compare.

Well. Picked up an EOS - M to be used as a small body for some general purpose shots that I need to take when doing event/sports photography. I purchased it with the EF Adapter and I will be looking at something like the Rokinon 8mm 3.5 to provide venue type shots.

For now though, the 22mm will have to do coupled with my 17-55 2,8 IS.

Not much in the house to take pics of but found these in the pantry area. Thought they would make a good enough first post from a guy that is much more comfortable with a Mark IV and a 300 out on a football field.

I was quite worried about AF speed but I cannot see it really being an issue. The camera handles well though shooting in tourist mode with arms extended is going to take some getting used to.

Thanks for the pics as they persuaded me to stick with this red headed cousin that I think will turn out to work just fine for me

I'm thinking about buying one of these kits for $400. If only as a small backup to my 5d2

$400 for the camera, 22, flash = pretty inexpensive. I guess the adaptor for ef is another $130? In videos the updated firmware didn't seem too slow to focus. Is it really that bad? X100 speed? Rx1 speed? 5d2, live view slow?Does the ef adaptor slow things down even more?

I'm not entirely sure how much use it would get, but it seems like a decent backup idea. And they're probably going to be totally gone soon, as the next one is on the way presumably.

My opinion in short:

- The kit with 22mm and flash really inexpensive at $400.

- Being a Canon DSLR-user, the idea of being able to adapt all your EF-lenses is intriguing, however I find the size of lenses with adapter to contradict the size of the EOS M and the AF of the adapted lenses rather slow. I don´t think I will use the EOS M with EF lenses very much, and have only tested a few. As a backup camera in your bag if the DSLR fails it fits the bill.

- The AF-speed and accuracy with EF-M lenses is OK after firmware upgrade.

- The flash is a great little master flash unit which works well also on my 6D.

- The three EF-M lenses are all good, I particularly like the 11-22 giving me a very portable architecture/travel/ landscape kit.
