Yesterday morning, we woke to a pretty good storm above us. It rattled on for about an hour and you could hear thunder for several hours past then. We rarely see a rainbow in the morning to the west of our place and you could see this one for about an hour. Here is one picture.

Thanks for looking, Ron

Holy... that's some nice light and an impressive sky! I'm wondering if the composition isn't stronger by cropping above just the wheelbarrow to exclude some of the foreground? Just an idea... nicely done though

Ron, that's a pretty serious looking storm! Love that light and the rainbow is killer!

Love it Ron! Beautiful and mysterious! That storm woke me up and we lost power for just long enough to mess up all the clocks!

I think David has a good idea with cropping the foreground at the bottom, making it almost a pano looking shot.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks everyone for your comments! I have looked at Davids and Paul's suggestions and I am not sure how I feel about them. I am including a couple attempts and see what your thoughts are. I, personally liked the flowers in the foreground, but I am also interested in what is the best composition also!

Thanks, Ron

Ron---I think your original framing tells a story that the tightest crop does not. In some respect, the tighter crop might have some prettier geometry, but the original shows a story of a storm in your backyard, interrupting your gardening, which, to me, is much more powerful in what it portrays.

And back to the geometry, the original has that balance of the rule-of-thirds and foreground framing anchoring the image, which I think is a nicer composition. For these reasons I go along with your original instincts. Beautiful photo.

I totally get what John is saying, and after all, there's a reason you composed this the way you did originally. Worth experimenting though to see what possibilities there might be though, eh?

It was quite a storm Ron! I like the rainbow and curling clouds. The original with the wheelbarrow and flowers is my preference.

Seeing it cropped makes me want to see what was cropped... !

Thanks for trying it and sharing it though.

I definitely prefer the second of the crops, not sure if I like it better than the original though.
