Just after sunset on our way to our lodge we reached a beautiful wetlands area. Flying above were Nacunda Nighthawks.....with fading light and not very good bif skills I still managed to get a few of these quick maneuvering guys as they darted back and forth looking for insects.

Thanks Socrate...there were 8-10 flying around erratically and was happy to get a couple of keepers with the light being what it was.

Thanks, a little practice for the local peregrines....if I ever find them...seems easier to find nighthawks in Pantanal than peregrines on the palisades.

Thanks Roberta...I have learned a very valuable lesson....take enough shots and one or two are bound to come out ok. The test comes when you get a flyover or flyby and no second or third or fourth chance....that's when my keeper level plummets...but regardless I will graciously accept your nice words.

Fine job my four legged shooting friend. Catching these guys is rare enough but in soft light like that IFs are not for the weak of heart. Two shots of the likes I have never seen around here before. Nice work Eric!
