An exciting image, Eric.
An even more exciting sighting, I'm guessing .
I knew jaguars were a lot bigger than leopards, but- at about 350 lbs- this must have been a pretty big male. More thrills for you to suddenly observe.
Being on the river might be the best way to spot these beautiful beasts- but it's also the ONLY way I'd go looking for them. Imagine hacking your way through a dense jungle- knowing there was a jaguar around somewhere.
No thanks.

Ohhhhhhhhh nice!! Perfect angle too. Not quite as good as shooting ducks in a light rain but close.

So it 'is' the lens that gets the shot not the photographer?

That lens makes all the sense in the world for your safari shooting style Eric. What an exciting sighting!! Yes I remember my 'first' but it wasn't a jaguar................or a cougar

Very cool and a boat ride on top of it all...................sweet success!

Eric, Sounds like a great trip and many unforgettable experiences. Great capture of the leopard and cant tell the collar is removed so good job. Looks like the 200-400 is a winner. Bruce

Awesome shot and congrats on the new lens. I feel your pain regarding the collars - the bears here often have ear tags.

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing more with the your new lens!
