p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · My first proposal photo series!

I was asked by a buddy to travel to the beach to cover his proposal to his girlfriend. It was a really intense rush to get everything lined up to make it happen, but I am very happy with the results. She had no idea!
Edit:Should have mentioned this was entirely a surprise, so she had no idea I was back there taking photos. Didn't really have any other option without using my 400...which could have been done had I not been in a rush, but that sand dune was also quite the hike...haha Either way, this was shot with my 70-200, as close as I could get while creating the strongest image possible. Any closer and you would not be able to have seen the beach or water.

Like your wide perspective.

Wide shows a nice scene, but I'd rather see the expression of the couple. If you could have, i would have had a camera on a tripod shooting wide with a pocket wizard and a telephoto tracking the couple with the sending pocketwizard. Could get both perspectives at the exact same moments.

I really wish you would have gotten the expression on her face. I was really hoping for an expression picture because those in my opinion are always the best, especially when it's a proposal.

I know you said you wanted to get the beach as a background but I think in this case it's the proposal/reaction that is the focal point in the pictures. There's so much going on when you get a wide shot like that and you lose sight of why you're taking the pictures.

This is all just my opinion and I don't know what kind of shots the guy wanted you to get. Plus you said it was short notice so those all could have played a factor.

Either way TFS!

Here are two more reaction style photos, just cropped in tight. Shooting full res Raw so the quality is still there.

You've captured the moment very nicely, although I have to say: to propose at that particular spot is a bit crazy. The fence is there for a reason. Too many people have died at Cape Kiwanda already because they chose to ignore the warning signs.
