p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Ocala National Forest (3 images)

I'm on vacation again, and here are three more pictures from Ocala National Forest in central Florida. (This part of Florida was completely unaffected by the recent hurricane.)

I apologize if these are too dark or too bright, as I am editing on my laptop screen instead of my home monitor, and it's tough to see accurate shades of grey on this thing.

All were edited in PS CS using Fred's BW Workflow Pro and different profiles were used for each image to achieve whatever effect I was going for in each individual photo.

The Harn Museum in Gainesville, part of the U of Florida cultural program, is having an Ansel Adams exhibit through the weekend, and I went today. Seeing the large prints on display would make any photographer want to give up color photography altogether - they were spectacular. When I got home I started reworking these pictures that I had previously left as color versions, but now I love the way they turned out in B&W. I'd like to know what you think!

#1 seems extremely dark to me. It's hard to see any detail...

#2 seems slightly dark, and for some reason doesn't do much for me.

I really like #3 - I'm sure you'll have people tell you to crop out most of the bottom though... I like the highlight area above the top right branches too...

I was pretty sure the levels would be off on some of these due to the limits of my iBook screen when on the road, so I'll revisit these when I'm back home next week. Thanks for the input!

I'm looking forward to printing number 3, and when I do I'm going to crop the bottom for a 3:2 aspect ratio. That should remove most of the dark areas and give it better balance.
