Going to be making a trip to Calgary and then off to Banff and Jasper for a week near the end of July and had some questions about the multitude of things to photograph. Between The Icefield Parkway, Banff and Jasper there are way too many spots to see. I will be traveling with my fiance and was thinking lakes and mountains in the morning and evening for the lovely lighting on the peaks and then some rivers and waterfalls during the day.
Any suggestions on streams, waterfalls and rivers?
I think the mountains and lakes will be pretty obvious but any suggestions on must shoot spots would be welcome

Best places involving streams / waterfalls would be all the various limestone canyons accessible up and down the parkway: Maligne Canyon, Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, Beauty Creek and Tangle Falls in Jasper, Saskatchewan Canyon, Mistaya Canyon, and Johnston Canyon in Banff, and if you want to poke a little further west, Marble Canyon in Kootenay and the Yoho Valley (Takakkaw, Laughing and Twin Falls) in Yoho. Obviously many other places as well, but those spots ought to give you a start. The must see spots for me would be Maligne, Athabasca, and Johnston.

Have a look at this: http://www.gypsyguide.com/apps/Canadian-Rockies.php
From the Web Site:
The app will act as you tour guide, playing interesting commentary AUTOMATICALLY as you drive.
Each guide is $5.00. It might be worth a look.

Check with some of those locations. Massive flooding has wiped out the main highway in numerous spots and many tourist destinations are unsafe. Mostly should be getting back to normal by late summer.
