Drumlins are glacial formations resulting from the last ice age. One theory holds that as ice advanced, gravel and rock debris were pushed forward and eventually left behind and under as ice became deeper. When the glaciers retreated about ten thousand years ago these long rounded formations were left. The leading or the blunt end of drumlins indicates the direction from which the ice moved, in this case the north.
