I have been away from the forum as I've divided most of my time between work and birding trips, I must have missed many great posts but I've done my best to catch up on Page 1 at least

The soaking wet mother was diligently shepherding her newly fledged chick and keeping a close eye on me (not so well hidden it seems in foliage) .... from a distance (40-45m) ... since the chick decided a wire cable not 30m away from me was the perfect place to sit and watch it's mother's aeronautical display as she bombarded it to encourage it to keep flying ! These are small owls, 22cms for an adult.

These are wonderful !! I love the look and way the light hits the eye in the second shot. Great set.

Great images...
Having never been to China, this bird is new to me. In the US we have a barred owl, but it is clear from the morphology that the US bird is very distantly related to the Chinese barred owl.

I really like the first shot with the owl backed by the oof green foliage.

Thank you Tim ! Ha ha - #4 is the pirate version. The beauty of coming on this forum (aside from the friendly people and shooting tips) is that we get to see birds & animals from all over the world that otherwise we may never have encountered.
