Love the colours in 1 - the subject really pops against that blue.
- I prefer the blue BG, I think the black BG in the later shots is a bit harsh

Love the tenderness of 4 and 5 - she has a much greater connection with the baby than in 3. (3 is nice, it just seems like she's a bit more detached)

In 7, the basket seems huge - perhaps a smaller basket, or just centre him more?

thanx scottam for the crit. I also love the blue, even though there's no fancy lighting. Can you elaborate as the black bg as "harsh"? is it the lighting that's harsh or just black generally doesn't suit a baby which should be more colorful etc?

I like #5 and 8 the best...decent composition and captures good emotion. I think #3,4 and 6 would be much better in landscape instead of portrait - too much dead space in the wrong place. #3 would be really great if you were down by the babies feet shooting back so you could see both faces.

No, the lighting isn't harsh, I was just talking about the huge contrast between the white rug and black BG

5, 8 & 9 are my favorites. You might try some of the ones with the black background as black and whites, that can be very classic looking, I would crop 6 to a landscape format and 7 as a square. Sweet kids and congrats on the new one.

Thank you. It's nice to get the reminder to try out a black and white which does not cross my mind till you've said it. The older one is really being a trooper.. she loves her little brother so much, it's amazing to see..
