Nice work ,the sky in the first shot is "demonic" great Ir image ,How big is that crater or mountain I am having trouble with scale because there is no tree's out there, seems huge to me,also how long was the trip ? Because if you walked from where you took the 2nd shot to where you took the 1st one ,not only are you a great photographer but a serious hiker!!
xiola, thanks!
About the mountain:
Elevation: 9,677 feet before May 18, 1980; 8,363 feet after; 1,314 feet removed.
Crater dimensions: 1.2 miles (east-west); 1.8 miles (north-south); 2,084 feet deep.
Crater floor elevation: 6,279 feet.

Also, as this entire area is a National Monument, accessibility is via a major two lane highway to all three official visitor centers, approximately 45 miles East of I-5 at Castle Rock, WA. It is illegal in all but a couple of areas to hike into the wilderness in the monument grounds. Thus, I am not an amazing hiker, just a great driver from lookout point to lookout point!
Thanks for taking the time to post and inquire!
