Wonderful poses, Birdie, and great light. It looks a bit as though you have tried to de-emphasize the background in post (with changes to the exposure, clarity, and sharpness). If so, you might consider expanding those areas even more. In the first shot, for example, the area immediately underneath the body and right wing might benefit from the same sort of treatment applied to the left side of the image. And, in the second shot, the lower left quadrant might benefit from the same treatment applied to the right side of the image.
Wonderful intensity to these images; thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much Greg. Yes , I was trying to de-emphasize the background and bring more attention to the subject. As you can tell I am not a purist I have tried to do as you suggest and reposted. Maybe should just leave the background alone , but it seems so busy to me. As you have given me permission , I am copying our PM to the post for anyone to comment and suggest.
Yup...I see the difference. In my (humble and inexperienced) opinion, the amount of darkening/blurring is a bit too much, but the areas to which they're applied should be more extensive. I notice this particularly in the first shot, where the upper left quadrant clearly looks manipulated, but that manipulation fails to extend all the way to the bird.
I thought the subject was interesting to discuss for a couple of reasons:
1) I do this sort of thing in many of my images, to try and draw the viewer's attention to the subject, but I get the feeling that most people don't;
2) I think these particular images really capture interesting poses/emotions; the marshy background adds context, but also has the potential to detract.
