Went down to Huntington Beach this morning hoping the clouds might break and allow a little sunrise color...no luck, so black and white seemed more appropriate....

I posted this at 1100 pixels wide...is that too large?

Edit...added another shot....

Posting size is perfect for me viewing on my 27" monitor. It may be a problem for people that use laptops and tablets.
I like both but BW one is my favorite. Lovely.

Hey Greg,

Pretty cool shots you have here. Lately the marine layer is really socking in the coast, so I don't think the odds of there being any color at sunrise will be good. Down in Newport and Laguna the marine layer rolls back in by about 5pm so no sunsets there either right now.

You have two really sweet shots here. #1 is a nice low light shot, I like how you got the lights to turn into stars, the moist air helps with that. #2 is my favorite, I like your processing on it. Very different looking. That's not for every shot, but once in a while it's nice to see some creativity with the processing.

As to size, rather than peoples opinions if you check the Forum Guidelines, you will find that the pano view of #1 does indeed fall within our guidelines.

Hi! Very nice image. I have been in California for two weeks and there has not been a decent sunrise. (Santa Monica / Big Sur / Monterrey)

Thanks Harsha, Jim and Sneaky

It's interesting Jim, when I leave work at 5:30 PM from the Carson/Wilmington area, the sun is out and the clouds are parted, but when I get to home to HB, it's 10 degrees cooler and all cloudy. It never ceases to amaze me how things change ten miles down the road.....

So Sneaky, sorry we've been so inhospitable! We call it "June Gloom."

To add to Greg's comment, generally speaking since you are on the West Coast... you will rarely get a good sunrise... the West Coast is more for sunsets. Though as Greg mentioned this June, and they don't call this time of year June Gloom for nothing. But what is cool, is if you can shift your eyes to about just a mile or so inland, you can get good shots with the Marine Layer acting like clouds...

Really like the first image, Greg.
I have a moderate-sized desktop monitor, and the only reason I have to scroll these (a little) is because of the frames. But I like the frames you used .

Pano sure is great take on #1 Greg. Captured the mood nicely. Nice soft tones and nice reflected light and pinpoint light sources..........I like it a lot.

#2 I too like the PP work on this one, muted colors work well with the amount of light.
