Something unusual here, taken this evening:

Testing the new firmware of the Nikon FT1 (this is the adapter to mount Nikkor-lenses onto the Nikon 1).
Now AF-tracking works and it makes a huge difference. The picture itself is mediocre at best, but I'm really happy with the technical quality (except for the crappy post-processing).
Nikon 1 V1, AF-S 200/2VR1 wide open, TC-17E, FT1, ISO800, 1/200sec, effective aperture displayed f/3.3

Philippe - Great post work with the Citroen, it looks really old.

More from Isle Royale with the 18-55mm VR DX on D7000

an 8 image panorama at McCargo Bay, infrared processed. Original is 27,000+ pixels wide

and some duotone experiment with an ISO 3200 pre-dawn image - "grain" is all courtesy of the D7000 sensor

The color definitely gives them both a bit of pop but I really like a black and white treatment of the monks. I hope you'll forgive me if I play a bit with that image to see if I can bring it a bit to life. I downloaded it and played a bit in Silver Efex Pro... increasing brightness, contrast and structure, but also increasing the red and yellow channels which brought the orange robes a bit to life. See what you think Dean. (MORE sliders, not less...

)

I also added white vignetting and of course, one of their frame options.

A blast from the past... the 85 f/1.8D wide open. This is my nephews dog Augie who is a great little fellow and much loved by all who meet him. I was about three months into my Nikon adventure and had only one MF lens, but I was definitely shopping... In the following months I added the MF lenses that I took with me during my first trip to visit Rinie in the Netherlands. But this is a sweet shot.

Monty does street shooting.

She was soooo shy. When I first started taking pictures, she scurried out the the frame. I told her she shouldn't be like that. "You are so pretty, I love you hair and red lipstick..." She looked up with a big smile then looked down. That is the moment I got this picture.

I gave her my card, I'll email her the pictures if she wants..

It s so much fun being a street photographer... I have all these brief encounters with so many great people.
