On a day when it earned its name.
In the Yukon near the throbbing metropolis of Beaver Creek .

Interesting place - reminds of a place in Jasper for some reason.

Thanks for commenting, Jamee.
It may look similar to Jasper- but this "lake" is very shallow... so much that it's probably not even a lake- but rather a very large pond.

great reflections, and great layering in the landscape beyond, I really like those elements..the brush on the right is a bit distracting.

Thanks Travis, Fred and SS.
Funny about this image. The color scan stunk. So I converted to B&W and it seemed to work much better.
Maybe I should intentionally screw up more scans and then convert them? .
About the brush on the lower right... obviously a matter of individual preference. My thinking at the time was that it helped give a little 3-D feeling of depth to the shot.

Charile,
For some reason I feel like I "saw" that pond while on the Alcan, but it was frozen over.
There were more than one shallow/fozen lakes along the way

Nice photo in B&W. A road trip on the Alcan highway is on my bucket list.

Beautiful image Charlie. The water and clouds and curving shoreline come together very harmoniously and the composition works well in B/W.

Nice shot Charlie...I've been curious what film camera you've been using. I occasionally break out the MF but haven't done so in awhile. Looking at your shots make me want to take it with me on some of my less stressful trips.

Thanks, guys.
There are many similar "ponds/lakes" along the length of the Alaska Highway.
There were many more before they finally paved the Canadian section of it- and that was mostly when I traveled the wilderness road.
This pond/lake was up near the Alaska border- about 20-30 miles south of Beaver Creek community, and a few feet away from the road- on the west side.
The Alcan may be paved now (a good thing- trust me), but it's still an adventure highway through the wilderness.
My basic scenery-shooting gear was/is: two very old Canon A series film bodies- one with a 24mm-70mm zoom, and the other with a 70mm-210mm zoom (both zooms were Vivitar Series-1). I always used "manual" operation.
I also used a newer Canon with a 400mm non-zoom for wildlife shooting. I used the motor drive and auto everything because of the time factor shooting animals.
Slide film for everything- mostly Kodachrome 64 or Ektachrome VS100.

That is a wonderful shot Charlie........neat to see the clouds in the sky at a distance and also see them in heavy contrast in the foreground. Wonderful depth, a great B&W of a stunning location buddy!
