Seen in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
Judging by its considerable wobbliness- I guessed the little dear to be less than a couple days old.

Thanks Henrik and Ken.
Like a good mother, the little tyke's mom fed just a few feet away- making it walk to get fed. The walking forced the baby to exercise and practice not falling on its butt.
I wondered if such behavior from the mother was conscious or instinctual.
Probably a bit of both.

Thanks Louie, David, Bee, Birdie, Chris, Ted, Dave, Kenny and Morris.
Mom had given birth in a wooded area quite close to the highway and some buildings.
My guess is that she had lived in close proximity to people and no harm had ever come to her- it would be a safe place to avoid predators such as bears and wolves.
I know of momma moose that do that on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. One gave birth a hundred yards from the lodge where I worked.
