I am now a firm believer that the best camera is the one you have with you! A friend of mine asked me to test his "broken" lens today. The lowly 55-250IS. I had my 7D and it in the car and spotted this little guy on the beach. Any idea on the ID? I'm so bad with shorebirds!

When asking for IDs it's always a good idea to provide the subject's location. Assuming the east coast of North America, your bird is a Willet (eastern) in high breeding plumage...and that's a nice set!

Great job. Looks like a marbled godwit to a non-birder. That is the only bird that I know that looks like the ones in the picture (if you have a hammer, the world is full of nails)

great set, if all broken lenses performed this well we might be able to get some good prices on them
