Exactly why I don't post here any longer way too much elitist this is the right way or wrong way overcooked under cooked is Photography not an art are there rules rights and wrongs in photography just thought I would post again to see if FM has changed any and it hasn't won't be seeing me on this self proclaimed elitist forum again

Good bye

Hey Ray,

It's too bad you feel that way, and I have to say it's too bad that you don't care what others think about your work. You can accept others opinions or choose to simply say that this was your vision for the shot and thank them for their suggestion.

But for you to say that Andrew's comments were elitist is very unfair.

When I post my shots here, some people like it, some people will make suggestions. I can decide whether I want to incorporate them or not. But as artists, when we no longer will listen to our peers, is it not ourselves then that have become elitist in our views and not those giving them? And as artists when we no longer listen to other thoughts and ideas, then as artists we will stagnate and stop growing.

Jim

I must admit that based on your reaction I don't understand why you posted in the first place? Did you not want any comments at all? Or only platitudes? Andrew offered his opinion of his experience of your photo.

Hi, Ray,

Nice to see a different interpretation of the Palouse. I won't go there because it seems it's all too done already.

Kudos for endeavoring to make it your own!

Regards,

Geoff

That set really works for me, Ray! My favorite is n°2, almost an abstract. Nice work!

Very dreamlike use of color and patterns, especially in the first one, but whether you post it here or hang it in a gallery you're always going to get different reactions to what you produce.

I love the textures of these, even if the saturation is a little over the top for my taste.

I've never really understood why people only want to hear compliments, though. How do we learn and grow without criticism? Not just in photography, but in life - do you only want to hear people slapping you on the back and telling you what a wonderful job you've done?

Everyone should seek out comments and criticisms from the people around them. It's the only way to learn.

You don't need to learn from every piece of criticism, but they shouldn't ruin your fun either. Besides, I don't think the shots are overcooked anyways, I have certainly seen lighting that brings out that much saturation before.

I love #1.

Way too oversaturated for my tastes. I've photographed the Palouse many times. While the colors can be exciting at sunrise and sunset and at certain times of the year, I've never seen anything like this. But obviously this is all just a matter of personal taste. I suspect that prospective buyers and others would love these photographs just because of the saturation (and the nice compositions).
