Wow, this is really exciting. A fast wide for crop cameras is a very welcome development, could be a great astro/night lens! As always, price is crucial, but seeing as no other manufacturer makes such a fast wide lens for crop Samyang have no competition.

This is great for us c-300 shooters! Finally something wider than 24 1.4 with an aperture faster than 2.8!!

I can practically hear the choir of those who would be saying "Why don't you just get a FF camera, because this lens is equal to 25mm f/3.2!" or something.

I know this lens is designed for crop, but I wonder if it will physically mount on a Canon full frame, if so some really interesting astro possibilities might arise.

@tr1957: It's still stop-down. I don't think Samyang is going to change now.
@David Baldwin: The lens will mount to Canon full frame because it (and all other third-party lenses) use the EF mount. The only advantage to EF-S is that it allows the rear elements to be placed closer to the sensor. Other cameras using the same 3rd party lenses need the lens even farther from the sensor than Canon EF, so there's no point in restricting. There will likely be significant vignetting on this lens.
@ytwong: Having such a wide angle just about removes the requirement to focus. Hyperfocal at f/4 is 11ft.

It probably will fit.
I'm more curious to see the size of this lens and the price - if it's small enough to use with my XE1, I might eventually pick it up (esp. if the price is right).

Yeah, that unfortunately seems to be the case. I'd gladly pay another $150 a lens automatic aperture. This is especially true as this lens seems to be more of a general purpose lens that the f1.4 lenses (which are usually used near wide open). I can't believe I'm the only one who finds stop down operation a deal killer (due to the time required to focus, stop down, open lens to focus; forgetting to stop down before next exposure, etc).

Cept' a 15mm F 3.5 Samyang fisheye, IF it were designed like the 8mm one for crop, WOULD beat a Zenitar. I wish they would make a FF diagonal fisheye as well

The focal length is the only thing that changes (24mm 1.5x crop factor), the aperture doesn't change for a cropped sensor. It'll still be a f/2
