The were some good things about the recent bout of cold, rainy weather: the local falls and streams were filled nicely; and the bugs are totally confused. This would normally be a time of massive black fly hatchings. Instead, it was a great opportunity to get some diffuse light over the some of the streams along the Northville to Lake Placid trial east of Piseco.

Foreground elements are better in the last image but both are great. Lovely colors.

Hey Bart,

It's great you got out, the conditions from the shots here look perfect! #2 is my favorite, I really like the foreground and how you set it up. With #1, I like the look of the shot, the light, the processing, but I wish you had moved the camera forward a few more feet and shot on the other side of fallen tree.

Long time no "see". I hope you are well. How is little Colden? Not so little any more?

I like these very much. Especially 2 with the delicate flowers in the foreground. Very very nicely done.

Harsha: Thank you. I haven't posted in quite a while, but when I've been on I've viewed your images -- very impressive.

Jim: I think you're right about getting in front of the tree, but it was about halfway into the hike, and at that point, I wasn't about to walk into the stream (or try to sit on the log). If I had known that later I would have been in up to my calves crossing another stream, I would have tried it. Then again it was quite windy and cold, with a long way to go. And If I had been with you, I KNOW you would have walked in, and I might have followed.

Stan: I really enjoy this area, and have come to know when the conditions are right - it's a struggle sometimes, but it really can be a very pretty area.

Ute: Thank you. Good to hear from you too. I'll send you an email an update on Colden, who at 2.5 will easily hike 2 miles, much of it running. A good omen for future shooting -- now, if I can get him to carry some gear. : )

Hi Bart,
Both these are very nice! Beautiful lush spring greens.
I prefer #2, but it's just my personal preference.

Sunny, thank you. #2 has printed very well, both in glossy and in canvas. I resized quite large for the canvas, and it's a gem.

Nikon: Thank you. Rome, NY. I often shoot in the southern adks and up in the peaks. I usually get out very early on at least one of the weekend mornings (but have to get home for the young-un. Let me know if you want to brave the bugs.
