All: D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 400, 1/1000, f8, fill flash (SB800 + Better Beamer)

I photographed these Yellow Crowned Night Herons at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, New York back in May of 2010.

The beaks on YCNHs are too short and thick. They just don't have the elegant looks of their cousins, so I would suggest a beak change. Hmm. Maybe not the type of suggestion you were after. This is a nice set Morris. #2 is my pick. A good pose.

Very nice set in the grassy habitat Morris... I like #1 best.
What is it trying to eat, a Mussel?

Nice retro shots Morris...it's been tough to get anything in decent light recently but maybe today and tomorrow will signal spring is here if only for a short time.

All are excellent imo.
Morris- I especially like #2 because of the animation of its pose.
Did the heron end up swallowing the clam? Or giving up on it?
