Lucky you to have something so close and relatively accessible. Super shots of moving day!
I do like the non-uniform skies which really makes the image much more interesting than just a bird on a blue background...but knowing the weather in Seattle, I guess pure blue is a bit of a rarity most of the year!
Eric
Yes indeed, sometimes things do work out nicely Thanks for the good words Eric!

Great looking set Tim. Out of curiosity, the last shot with the branch with live foliage, did the Heron actually break that limb off a live tree? The leaves in #4 look to be withered a bit so I would guess that limb was already on the ground.
Dave
Thanks Dave! Yes, most of the branches these guys were harvesting were green, fresh off of the tree. They would leave the trees with nests in them, land in other trees and proceed to strip just the right branch for their needs. They really were quite picky.

Very nice Tim, and you are very lucky to have a rookery so close. These guys sure are fun to shoot, and you did well. Keep 'em coming ~ Ron
very nice work tim, especially #4 - amazing he can fly with that branch! i have come to the conclusion that the only way to REALLY photograph birds is on their breeding grounds. migrants are so twitchy, high in trees, here one day gone the next etc etc etc. it looks as though these guys are gonna provide lots of subject material over the next few months. its so nice to watch the progression from courting to nesting to hatching to fledging. hopefully there's more coming!

I would agree with you Dorian, I have spent a fair amount of time with these guys over the period of a week or so. Everyday is different as they get on with nest building, mating etc. Thanks for the good words.
