I have been to Africa for wildlife, so far three times. It was always great but always intensive and expensive. I would like to fly there once more, but this time for longer stay, one month+++, in one of these countries: Tanzania, Botswana.....
Of course it should not be so intensive and prohibitively expensive.
So is there any one around here who did stay 1--3 months for wildlife in Africa and how would one organize these long stay?
Any information would be appreciated.. Googleing has not been helplful.
While I've never done it myself, people do camp in Botswana. There are some places set up just for people who want to self drive. Look at Lonely Planet, I think they probably have some info on it...Tanzania also allows for self drive...of course, unless you fancy yourself a good tracker, spotter you will miss a lot of what's around. The other option is Kruger park that has campsites set up. I've never done Kruger but it does offer quite a bit and for a lot less....book in advance though to get the best campsites.

I lived in SA many years ago. Maybe you could get a long term rate at a hotel or B&B near Kruger Park ? Rent a car and you could get a deal on that too.
There may be dangers in that country now though. I've read about the violence.
Still, it would be an adventure.

While trying to be reasonable,I never pretend to be able to do all by myself. I would need a tracker. One has to be on location to know. I could do all bymyself if I have the time, menaning years in on place.
I had a short stay in Kruger. From what I know, I prefer East Africa and Botswana.
