My black Domke F1-x looks like it's been through a warzone. The outside is tattered and faded, all of the grip is worn off the strap, and the inside lens compartments are all ripped. It's been this way for a year though because I love the bag so much and have not been able to find anything that works as well and holds as much.
My question to the forum, do you know of any shoulder bags that are as large as the F1-x which I could pick up as a replacement?
Here is what I can fit in mine:
2 x 5D III with short primes attached (50/1.2, 24/1.4)
85/1.2
100/2.8
2 x 580EX flashes
CP-E4 power pack
Misc triggers, cards, and cables
That is a lot of gear and I can access nearly all of it from the top of the bag while it's over my shoulder.
Are there any alternatives in the $200 range? Both backpacks and rolling bags are completely out for me.
What you need is the Safrotto copy of the F-1X. The seller also has them in sand, blue and tan as well as black. I have an olive F-1X and an F-2 and two Safrotto bags and the Safrotto bags are way better than the current Domkes that Tiffen are selling. Pay an extra $6 and you can get a really nice shoulder pad too.

+1 I own both a domke and Safrotto and the Safrotto is at least as well built with better inserts.
Me either -the Domke designs are just the best to work out of bar none. You have to wonder what Jim Domke thinks about the way Tiffen has almost run the company into the ground. Really sad.
