The contrast and background blur add nicely to the depth, as Douglas already pointed out.
Not knowing the protocol followed on BWV, other than what I've observed and adhered to, might I suggest also posting on Photo Critique, where readers are often inclined to post re-works to illustrate possible alternatives. I don't think re-works are widely done, or are perhaps even discouraged on the other boards - just my opinion and observations from lurking.
You're going to get good advice wherever but I think PC is worth a try.
