I do like the bird against the nice rich, green background, they have a soothing feel to them. I almost hate to say this but my eye keeps going to the yellow flower, I'm not I'm an advocate of removing it. To be honest I'm not sure what I would do if it was mine. I do like the aspect ratio of the crops and the room around the bird, the subject is nicely focused and appears to be quite relaxed. The purist in my doesn't like the barbed wire but..... that's where he was I think you did a marvelous job on these Chris, well done!
I slowly stopped my car at the point that the dandelion is not a distracting element - now I have to reconsider.
I don't mind the barbed wire as it indicated the border of the field. And it's my first Redshank on a fence post so I take it.
Thank you Tim for the comments and kind words.

These are all very nice Chris. I also like the boids against the green bg. If these were mine, I'd be tempted to crop just above the barbed wire ~ Ron
Thank you Ron. I guess I have to find one without the barbed wire.

Good subject isolation makes for good looking BGs. Toss in some neat poses and you have a darned fine set of redshank shots. Well done Chris.

Grats getting this seldom seen visitor to your neck of the woods Chris
Nice variety of poses and that BG is indeed most complimentary!

Sitting on a dadgummed fence post with barbed wire... and I STILL really love these, Chris .
For some reason, the first image gave me the giggles and a smile. I stopped giggling but smiled to the end.
Excellent set.
Charlie
Thank you Charlie. It's a beautiful bird with striking orange legs.
Glad you enjoyed them.
Chris
I really like the first image in your series. The bird is so nicely isolated and the vertical posture of its preening behavior makes for a great composition.

He is where he is, and you did a marvelous job with this sequence Chris.
I like the compositions, the grassy BG is so pretty, and you captured some cool poses.
Excellent choice for your new avatar.
