Well, I thought I found a decent backpack for a decent price, but everyone I asked disagreed. So, could you all recommend a pack for me?
Must haves:
Side entry
Backpack, not a sling (Could double as both though)
No need for laptop compartment
Under $100
Hold my D7000+grip | 35 1.8g | 70-300vr maybe an 18-105 or SB600.
I'll go on day hikes, only a couple hours a day, nothing crazy.
I'll take it on vacation with me.
Would like a small section to store accessories.
What do I use to haul my gear now?
Well I have a small lens case that houses a couple lens, I put that into my backpack of choice and put my camera on top..... Not to smart...

There are a lot of great bags out there, but the "under $100" severely limits your options.
I agree, but when I shoot once a weekend, if that, I can't justify spending that much on a bag..... Plus the wife will kill me if I get more expensive equipment that sits on a shelf 85% of the time.
that waist belt should suffice for the light duty you will give it. I've hiked for several days with a day pack from hut to hut with limited (but some!) belt padding and it makes all the difference when traveling light but still needing support to save your shoulders. If cost is a hard line in the sand and it has the features you want, I'd get it.
I think I'll opt for the 250 instead, I don't have a ton of gear to justify the extra size of the 350. theres a ton on EBAY but I would never get it in time for my trip.
I thought about buying used.. decent deal on a fastpack 250 but I think I'd rather just buy new... Now I need to figure out if the first one is worth going over $50 budget?
I bought the fastpack 250 @ bestbuy....... they had a deal I couldn't pass up.. and I had $50 in giftcards that have been sitting in my wallet for over a year. Basically it was free haha
The Fastpack 250 is great. I also have a Case Logic 206, it's amazing for the price and holds more than you need in addition to a laptop, tablet, filters and tripod It has a thoughtful and attractive design, check out the review.

1. Lowepro Compuday Photo meets all those requirements.. the only thing I'm not sure about is the battery grip part, but I think it would fit if you try. Bag is about $89.
2. My other suggestion is Tamrac Evolution 6, which checks all those requirements, except that it costs $130.
If you are in Boston - maybe check out some local camera stores and see what they have to offer. First one that comes to mind is EP Levine. That may be your best best to see it in person and decide from there. Hope this helps! ~AM
