Considering getting an OM-D and wondering if you can set up a button to separate the focusing from the shutter button?
I use this on my Canon's and like the ability to focus on a point then re-compose to shoot. Does the OM-D allow you to assign a separate button for focusing only?
Thanks!
Another question, can you turn off the touch-screen?
As to button configuration there are nearly endless configuration options. On mine I have a "best of both worlds" setup in which the red "rec" button on the top swaps between MF and AF. When in AF mode the Fn2 button on the top becomes an AEL button and AF is on the shutter button. When in MF mode half-press is AEL and the Fn2 becomes a one-press AF button (so like a Canon with AF separate from the shutter button).
So, by pressing the red "rec" button I can immediately switch between AF on half press and AF on a separate button. Better than the requisite custom function menu diving required on a Canon to change that mode.
There are other ways to configure slightly different behavior to taste.
