I recently spent ten hours sat in a hide trying to photograph a little owl. During that ten hours the owl appeared four times for a total of six minutes only - very good for developing patience is wildlife photography!

No.5 Mealworms were used to attract the owl, but this little great tit kept on nipping in and stealing them...

No.6 Three out of four of the appearances the owl put in were during the morning. The light then was nowhere near as nice - here's the best of the shots taken then:

Patience rewarded Paul. Read about the Korean filmmaker that stayed in a hide for months at a time without even leaving to go to the bathroom hoping to photograph tigers. The loneliness must have been overwhelming. He went over 3 months without seeing anything at all before being rewarded.

Wow, you are a patient man and that sure paid off for you in spades Paul. These shots are marvelous. I would have happily waited that long to get shots like these

Stunning, killer BG for sure, perch is perfect. As much as I hate waiting, that is the kind of patience you need.
I waited for 4 hours last evening for the screech owl to poke her head through the nest hole. So little owl is like burrowing owl, they are out in the open during the day.
