Between rain showers, lightning, and fighting the flu it has been hard to find good light... I believe this image conveys that feeling... Your opinion & suggestions are appreciated... Thank you, Jim

It does convey the conditions.
Wish there was a better subject surrounded by clouds, like the Priest & Nuns or Castleton Tower...

Hey Jim,

One of the things I have learned about road shots is they need to be clean along the sides of the road to really work. In this case, you have a turnout right at the beginning of the shot, it really breaks up any balance of the shot. Also, #2, it works best to have the road start or end in the middle of the frame, not just run along one edge of the shot, it breaks the shot into two shots then and lacks continuity.

I think if you had walked further to the other far side of that turn out, and then went and stood in the middle of the road and took the shot, this would be so much nicer.

Then to Craigs point, there isn't really anything to be seen here, I am thinking the emotions of experiencing this is driving your enjoyment of this being a good shot, rather than the shot itself. Do you have any shots where you shot tighter of the road and those mountains in the background on the right side? I could see that holding more interest. If you were to split this shot into quarters, the upper right quarter could make a nice shot.

Just a few thoughts for you.

Jim

We have been in Moab for 7 Days and it has rained 5 Days. Not complaining as Utah needs the rain and the clouds are nice.. Thank you, Jim

Thanks Jim.. I understand your suggestions and they all make sense. I believe my intent was to show the nasty weather more than the scenery. I should have set up the shot better. This image was the same area, center of the road, bike rider added for perspective. Jim

Hey Jim,

I like the look of this last one the best, though I think I could do without the bike rider. But it's much nicer.
