I don't think 5 is a meadowlark, maybe some kind of Grosbeak.

Where did you catch the Painted bunting? It is a colorful bird.

Thanks Jason, my wife has seen one in our backyard, but this one was in Hornsby on teh way to island trail right before the first fork.

ids on everything are correct except for the lesser yellowlegs. that shorebird is a least sandpiper, which is easily distinguished from similar species by his yellow-ish legs! lesser yellowlegs are bigger, grayer, and have BRIGHT yellowlegs. a really diverse collection of stuff, i particularly like the phalarope - very nice!

Thanks Dorian for the ID. The Phalarope were the bonus for the week before at our local pond. It was a grey morning with not much happening until I came to the west end of the bond and these guys were in a feeding frenzy. Quite entertaining to watch them and the grebes mixed in.

Really engrossing series, well photographed, I enjoyed looking through them.

New to me is the Scissored Flycatcher. That looks a fabulous bird and I will be looking out for shots of them in future.
