The detail, especially in Nos. 1 and 4, is spectacular. Maybe you should take the 300 out to play more often!

Thank you !

1 & 4

Much appreciated Tony, thank you.

Nice detail from the unassisted 300 Birdie... hopefully the 500 comes back from Nikon better than ever.
#1 is the standout for me, love it... well done as always.

Nice Birdie!

I've got hummers everywhere now. Trying to identify them.

Socrate

Thank you Socrate very much.

Great job Birdie! I hope to capture one 1/2 as good as those this year!

Bob

Thank you Bob. I'm sure you will do better than me ! They can be very frustrating, but are fun

All are very nice. Number 1 is outstanding IMO.

Much appreciated. Thank you!

WOW!
These are all terrific, Birdie.
Charlie

Very much appreciated. Thank you Charlie

Hmmm these are striking me in different ways Birdie

Just gonna call it like 'I' see it...........
#1 looks too 'brittle' to me. Lots of details for sure but just appears a bit harsh to me in a strange way. I want to like it but it is a little 'crisp' for me?
#2 didn't quite nail the focus, some noise showing in blur of wings, could make them softer to enhance the blur
#3 looks like shadows were opened up too much, details in that area are not crisp, a bit noisy, not a good point of focus that I see
#4 looks like you had to push the processing a lot, and I understand your goal. Not a great pose for me.

I guess I am the one that you get 'nits and crits' from today But then again maybe .................my new glasses are seeing more
Karl

Thank you so very much Karl. You know I appreciate and learn so very much from the nits, so keep them coming.
I have reworked the first and not sharpened quite so much, a bit less contrast too. Also changed the crop a bit as suggested by Ron.
High ISO in a couple of them probably has not helped either.

Again, thank you Here is the redo of the first.

Great set Roberta

Morris

Thank you very much Morris.

Terrific shots Birdie,

I'm going for no.1 as the pick, you captured some tremendous detail in that image.

Paul.

Much appreciated Paul, thank you.

Birdie, I'm going to disagree and agree with Karl

#1 is stunning. I think the problem today is your getting excellent resolution and not everyone is used to seeing such resolution. If you had enough pixels on that bird, you could turn the background into gray and hang it on the wall.

#2, I agree. Way too much noise in the wing. I know the standard practice is to remove the noise everywhere except for the feathers but sometimes that doesn't work, especially in the light greys where the noise is obvious.

In any case, overall great work. I need one of these huge megapixel cameras

I have noticed much more detail with the D800. I need to rethink how I process as I may be over sharpening .
Much appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Wow.... beautiful set, Birdie. Your 300 and your skill do wonderful job to get lots of details from this little friend. I really enjoy this set.

- Tam

Tam, thank you very much for the kind words.
