Gridded snoot on a Sunpak 383 at 1/16th power.
I think I'd like it better if the whole stem was lit. Not too sure how to accomplish that though.

I kind of like the stem fading in the shade as it is in tone with the lighting of the whole image. I like it. You did a good job

If it was my shot I would reduce the negative space to make the flower more prominent.
Sharpening the focus point will make it a better .... focus point

The reds look rich and vibrant, may be a bit less Sat? Hard to tell tough as I don't know the colors of the flower.

Try a second light source filling in the shadows some but not as bright as the main light

A nice shot Walter, but the shadow on the back flower is very distracting. A little light on the right might bring some detail to the second flower ~ Ron
