One from a little while back. Such a wonderful place to watch the monsoon storms and cap it off with a colorful sunset. 3 exposure blend with a Singh ray 3 stop soft ND filter.

I very much like the elements, the composition, the lighting and the details in this shot. The only thing I don't like is the HDR look.

I agree with Harsha. The composition and cloud patterns are great, but it has an emphatic HDR look that is not doing it any favors in my view.

Hey Klaus,

That's a pretty cool view and you got some great clouds to work with. Since you used a 3 stop ND grad I am wondering why you would have needed a 3 exposure blend too? For me, you know how I am, the HDR look is a bit too much. This is somewhat contained, but the feel of HDR is still there, and totally not needed since you used an ND grad, a 3 stop should have been sufficient.

One other thought, I prefer the hard edge grads especially for shots like these with such a defined edge. With the soft edge grads I found they blended the exposure too far down into a shot.

Sorry, not seeing the "HDR" look. other than the 3 exposures the blending was all done in the sky. Doesn't matter though....I guess everyone was there when I shot it.
NOW you can say it looks like HDR....
