At times Banff Valley can be a little smoky and foggy (which is the original meaning of S.M.O.G. I know, I was a boy in Los Angeles when we invented the term ), but up in the mountains a bit and the air was clear as the proverbial bell. Nice clouds are good for some shots, but IMO not for reflections. Give me a deep blue for that.

That's a nice composition and the shot looks pretty good overall. Perhaps using the Highlight recovery tool in the upper half of the shot can soften that bit of harshness on the mountains? It's pretty nice as it is, but pulling back just a bit more I think would really be a nice addition.

The morning light against the distant mountains was totally flat- and that always presents problems for me in processing.

I don't know what a highlight recovery tool or a GNP are, alas.
I just fiddled with the lasso and brightness/contrast thingies. Arduous work- but all I know how to do .

Charlie, it is what it is, though I do like your second version. I like photos to look like what they are, and not all over-processed and fakey. Simple and real is my cup of tea
